Hygenhund

The Hygenhun is a breed of dog of Norwegian origin. It is so called because it was developed by a breeder by the name of Hygen. In the late 19th century, Hygen developed the Hygenhund by breeding a number of different hounds of that time. The Hygenhund is developed as an endurance hunter and can withstand the hardship of hunting on Arctic territory for extended periods of time without showing any signs of fatigue.

The Hygenhund is usually between 19 and 24 inches in height at the withers. Its weight is usually between 44 and 55 pounds. Its coat is thick to protect it from the cold weather and snow. It also helps in protecting it from rain by keeping it dry from within. The fur also tends to be straight to ensure that rain or snow just slip off the surface instead of reaching undercoat and wetting the dog. The coat of the Hygenhund is also slick and shiny, for the same reason of keeping the rain and snow away from the undercoat of the dog. The color of the coat tends to be a combination of red and yellow, black and chestnut, white, black and chestnut or just chestnut with or without markings in black. The color of the eyes of the Hygenhund is usually dark, but is dependent on the color of the coat. The skull of the Hygenhund is triangular in shape as it has a rather broad skull and a medium sized muzzle. However, the head has the appearance of being very well proportioned. The nose of the Hygenhund is usually black. Its bite is considered to be of the scissor-type or level. The neck of the Hygenhund is long and regal looking as well as clean. The top line of the Hygenhund is straight and level.

The body of the Hygenhund is compact, yet is elongated. It has a very deep chest cavity. Its body has the appearance of being solid and square. Its legs are also very solid and highly muscular, while the feet are compact. The tail of the Hygenhund is not typically docked. It is curly and the Hygenhund carries it gaily over its back.

If you watch a Hygenhund in motion, you will see that this breed of dogs has very balanced and fluid movement. It is capable of good reach. The Hygenhund is an energetic dog and is considered free-spirited. A Hygenhund is developed to hunt in the withering Arctic region. It does not make a very good house pet. It needs a lot of free space as well as complete freedom of movement. The Hygenhund can be trained to obey commands very easily, but it is best to initiate the training as soon as possible. The most ideal owner of the Hygenhund is a hunter in the Arctic region. If the dog is taken out for hunts on a regular basis, it will satisfy his need to expend energy as well as satisfy his need to hunt.
