BLOODHOUND
This bloodhound, also called a German braco, it is an all purpose dog at work. Bred since 1897, or maybe before since in a German site about the braco’s origin edited in that year it was already mentioned.
PHYSICAL TRAITS of the BLOODHOUND
It is strong, fast and very resistant, with a noble and altive stance. The male has a cross height that goes from 62 and 66 cm and in females between 58 and 63 cm. The head’s length varies according to the dog’s volume and its gender, but it is always lean and relatively light. The muzzle is long, wide and sturdy, the nasal canal, slightly convex and the nose is brown. The fur is short, hard and glossy, uniform chestnut or with some white spots, roan or white with spots or brown freckles; it can also be black with roan colors.
TEMPERAMENT AND ADAPTATION of the BLOODHOUND
Its temperament is moderate, clam, without a hint of aggressiveness and shyness at all. It is kind and affectionate with people around it and indifferent with strangers until they deserve its trust. It allows training with obedience and adapts well to socializing.
EXERCISE AND CARE required for a BLOODHOUND
The usual care that hygiene and exercise require.
Usually, if it is going to be used in hunting, the tail is cut to avoid accidents. But in countries where the law does not allow its cut, the tail should reach the hamstrings and carried horizontally.
