BLUE PICARDY SPANIEL
French breed from the Picardy area, in the shores of the Somme river, that even being very ancient, it was only bred selectively from the beginning of the XX century. In that breeding, besides the Picardy spaniel, the English setter could have intervened, although it seems probably that other breed were not used, which maintains its blood purity.
PHYSICAL TRAITS of the BLUE PICARDY SPANIEL
It has a strong constitution and a large but light and athletic appearance, denoting an evident agility. Its minimal stand is 56 cm and the maximum is 63 cm, females are 2 cm shorter. The eyes are light caramel and have a charmingly sweet expression, the ears, low inserted, are adorned with curly bristles. The fur is hard, slightly wavy in the back and finer and straighter in the head; the color is gray with chestnut spots around the body and reddish around the face and legs.
A poorly shaped skull, pointy nasal canal, short ears implanted too high and light and small eyes are negative points.
TEMPERAMENT AND ADAPTATION of the BLUE PICARDY SPANIEL
It is vital and bold, also patient and affectionate. Very aware of its masters, it needs to be closet o them and, due to its tameness, it is a very appropriate pet for children, with who it displays great tolerance and completely stable behavior. Despite its size, it enjoys living inside the house, adapting very to the country as well as to the city. It is easy to educate and loves to learn.
This tame but lively dog is always devoted to its masters and is excellent for children, who it loves to play with.
EXERCISE AND CARE required for a BLUE PICARDY SPANIEL
If it is born with a tail, its amputation is not necessary. It doesn’t require special care, only a balanced diet, normal fur hygiene and moderate exercise.
