BOLOGNESE

The Bolognese origin is very ancient, Aristotle already referenced this Italian breed, canes melitenses, in praising terms, since then and in later periods, this dog has been so appreciated that it was offered as a special gift to important personalities with the intention of pleasing them. There is record that the King of Spain, Philip II, sent a missive to the Duque D’Este, after receiving two little dogs, in which he thanked “the most majestic present given to an Emperor”, it also charmed painters such as Tiziano, Old Brueghel, and Goya, which portrayed it in some of their magnificent paintings.

The Bolognese is a very serious dog; apparently its temperament is not very dynamic, but it is very affectionate and it loves children.

PHYSICAL TRAITS of the BOLOGNESE
It is small and solid, square looking, the eyes are very large and dark, its stance is arrogant and elegant and their movement is decided. Bolognese males are 27 to 30 cm to the cross; females are 25 to 28 cm and weigh 2.5 to 4 kg. It has very large and round eyes, dark ochre; and the ears are long and droopy, with a crease that separates them from the skull making the head look larger than it is. The beautiful fur, pure white, is fine, loose, with an almost vaporous air and covers the body completely in hanks that go from the back to the feet.

TEMPERAMENT AND ADAPTATION of the BOLOGNESE
It is a serene and serious dog. Brave and decided, docile, intelligent and fast when learning and with a great sense of adaptation, which makes it a comfortable and pleasant dog to the owner. It is very affectionate toward the person that cares for it most directly, and it takes on to the provided space right away and makes it its own with a great sense of ownership

CUIDADOS Y EJERCICIO
The smooth and very long hair requires a lot of care, periodical baths, daily brushings and professional grooming, especially in the transition between puppy and adulthood, because it is then when we can avoid that its hair thickens and becomes matty. The work is worth it, since this small’s dog beauty is incomparable.
