ENGLISH POINTER
There is a generalized opinion about the English Pointer that considers it as the best hunting pointer dog. It was originated from the Spanish braco, taken by the British soldiers to their country after the Spanish war. Much later, selective crosses were made with the foxhound, English greyhounds and the French braco. Although this breeds ancestors are quite accepted, there is a complete biography in which its author, William Arkwnght, defends that, as many other pointing dogs, the English pointer descends from the Italian braco. Wherever this breed comes from, it has gained such a vast notoriety that numerous study texts have been dedicated to this breed in very diverse countries.
PHYSICAL TRAITS of the ENGLISH POINTER
It is an animal of great elegance, arrogant stance and proportions considered as perfect. It has a pretty, medium lengthed head, with a very pronounced stop and a square muzzle. The ears, high inserted, are medium sized and thin structured, droopy and slightly pointy, and the eyes are more or less light brown, according to the hair type. The height set for the males is 64 to 70 cm and for the females it is 58 to 66 cm, the weigh set in the standard is between 24 and 34 kg in males and 20 to 30 in females. The fur is short, very dense, soft and tight, the most common color is white with black spots, but it can also be orange or yellow in a tricolor or uniform combination.
Having a pointer brings several advantages: it is a loyal and obedient dog, it doesn’t require much hygiene care because it is very clean, easy to train and good with children.

TEMPERAMENT AND ADAPTATION of the ENGLISH POINTER
Its very noble behavior make the pointer a very reliable dog, which devotes its unconditional loyalty to its master, it is also very affectionate towards people around it and, particularly children, who it adores. It is exceptionally devoted to hunting learning. It is very docile, obedient and tame as a company dog. Although its adaptation to any environment is very good, it is not an appropriate dog for an urban environment.
It is a magnificently proportionate dog. It is a graceful, aristocratic, strong and very active dog.
EXERCISE AND CARE required for a ENGLISH POINTER
Dogs in this breed are particularly clean for which it is not necessary to provide it with a lot of care. But, since it is constantly on the move, it demands a lot of outdoor exercise.
