HARRIER
Its origin is placed to the south of England, after continuous crossings of the greyhound, fox terrier and bulldog, selecting it with the purpose of gaining a good rabbit hunter. The first pack formed in which these harrier dogs were included seems to date back to the year 1260.
PHYSICAL TRAITS of the HARRIER
It is a solid animal, resistant, fast, strong but light looking, with a stand in males of 48 to 55 cm and 45 to 49 in females, weighing 25 to 30 kg. The head is elongated and wide, the eyes are small and oval shaped, always dark, and the triangle shaped ears are droopy and flat. The medium length hair is straight and well attached to the body, the background is white with orange or black spots.
TEMPERAMENT AND ADAPTATION of the HARRIER
It is cheerful, lively, passionate and very active; intelligent and easy to train, although it can be a little stubborn sometimes. It is quiet at home, affectionate towards people and very happy if the master is a hunter and takes it with him. It holds certain similarities to the beagle as far as character, since like it; this breed is docile, cheerful and affectionate.
This breed is rarely known as a company dog. As a good bloodhound it is prone to howling and digging.
EXERCISE AND CARE required for a HARRIER
Due to its athletic constitution, it requires frequent exercise and a balanced diet. To this, we just need to add normal fur care to keep it in shape.
