HUNGARIAN GREYHOUND

There are references to this breed, also called the Magyar Agar, in Hungarian tombs of the IX, even when it didn’t have English greyhound blood. It is considered that such later, and excessively frequent crossing, harmed the linage purity greatly, for which current breeders are, mainly, trying to avoid that kinship, retrieving and maintaining the breed purely defined.

Its ears are always droopy but it erects them, briefly, during sexual arousal.

PHYSICAL TRAITS of the HUNGARIAN GREYHOUND
It has a robust body, good musculature and solid skeleton that fits in the size of the Spanish and English greyhound, a 65 to 70 cm height and an ideal weight of 30 kg, naturally adjusted to the stand. The head has an elongated wedge shape, with a wide skull, long muzzle and very dark nose. The eyes are medium sized, dark and with a decided expression, the ears are droopy in an inverted V shape. The fur is short and straight, it can have any color allowed in greyhounds, be it in uniform colors or in several combinations.

TEMPERAMENT AND ADAPTATION of the HUNGARIAN GREYHOUND
This breed has, by general rule, a very spontaneous and natural temperament. It accepts training perfectly since it is good, intelligent and lively, qualities that also mark its adaptation to coexisting with a family. It is deeply loyal to its owner, very hardworking, a good guardian and somewhat reserved, especially with strangers.

EXERCISE AND CARE required for a HUNGARIAN GREYHOUND
It‘s easy to maintain since it is not fussy nor has a sweet tooth. It endures low temperatures perfectly, for which a dog house in the yard will be perfect, and it also should have space to exercise its muscles, which is absolutely indispensable.
