Korean Jindo Dog
The Korean Jindo dog is said to originate from south Korea, more specifically on an island called as Jindo island, and hence the name. It is a hunting dog breed. They are very rare and unknown outside of South Korea, but in South Korea, their native, they are highly popular or their extremely fierce bravery and loyalty.
They are a medium sized and spitz type breed of dog. They are also said to be double coated. They can be mainly differentiated from any other breed of dogs by closely examining their head. In a completely grown, adult dog, the top skull is very broad and also rounded between their ears and they are also wrinkle free. They have a very well developed under jaw and due to this, when viewed from front, they have a somewhat round octagonal appearance. Coarse hair stands away from their cheeks. They have triangular ears that are normally up right, that is, they lean forward past vertical. They insides of their ears are well furred. Normally, until the puppy grows to be above 5 to 6 months, their ears stay flat on their heads.
They have an almond shaped or round shaped eyes. Their eyes are normally colured in a shade of brown however, a shade of dark reddish brown is always preferred. Some dogs also show signs of having light brown eyes, these couloured eyes, although not impossible, are not desirable. They should never have blue colored eyes. On non white dogs, it is compulsory that the noses are black in color, however, the white colored dogs are allowed to have little mottled portions of pink or tan on the centre of their noses. They have a muzzle that is not at all bulky, it is actually quite well proportioned. It is quite compulsory that they should have black lips that are tauted. It is preferred if their tongues are solid pink in color. But it is not frowned up on if they sometimes have a blue-black colored tongue, just like the Sharpeis and the Chows, however this is highly uncommon. When compared, it comes to our notice that the male dogs have a larger head and the female dogs have a lot more of fox like features.
Depending on their body types, they can be differentiated into two types- the Gyupgae and the Heutgae. The Gyupgea is quite muscular and also shorter in length. The Heutgae on the other hand is much more slender. There are about 6 identified coat colors and they are red fawn, white, black, grey. Some are also tiger patterned.
These dogs are very popular for their unmoving gentle and loyal nature. They are very active and thus are not indoor dogs at all. They require a reasonable amount of space to roam about and run around as well. They require constant attention and care from the owners. It is a highly intelligent dog. This is the reason why they learn commands and tricks so very quickly.
