Kunming Wolf Dog

These dogs were said to be created in the early nineteen fifties, mainly for the purpose of meeting the need for military dogs in a place called Yunnan, which is situated in China. These dogs were used by the Chinese police as well as their military forces. These dogs have also made their way and found use in the civilization as guard dogs and even as watch dogs. These dogs being used as pets are very uncommon, but this in no way implies that they do not make good house pets because they make excellent house pets as well.

These dogs are called as the Kunming dog and even as the Chinese Wolf dog. In appearance they are quite similar and resemble the German shepherd dogs. But they do have different characteristics, for example, they are taller in their back and also have a shorter coat as compared to the German shepherds. These dogs are often said to show their excitement by curling their tails high in the air. They can be differentiated from the other dogs mainly by closely inspecting their coats. Their coats stand different from others’ because they are marked with a black colored saddle and their muzzles are marked with other colors which may range from deep rust to light straw. Their height ranges from a maximum of 27 inches to a minimum of 25 inches and their weigh around approximately 66 pounds to 84 ponds.

The main objective behind giving a lot of training to these dogs is mainly to let them know who the pack leader is, that is, to achieve the status of being the pack leader. As a natural instinct, it is built in, in these dogs to have a properly ordered pack. When humans and dogs live together in the same environment, it is quite obvious that they dogs start considering the humans as members of their pack. And as a natural rule of nature, the entire pack usually cooperates under the rule of a single leader. The lines are clearly pre determined and all the rules are already set. These dogs normally have the tendency to communicate their displeasure regarding anything and everything by either growling at the humans or sometimes even by biting them. This is the main reason that the humans need to be higher up in order than the dogs, they need to have a degree of authority over the dogs and the dogs also need to be made clear o this fact.

The Kunming wolf dogs love a lot of continuous activity. If possible, these can be combined with some kind of training for the dogs, as they love these as well. These dogs are highly intelligent and love to be faced with a good challenge. It is compulsory that they need to be taken on long walks; preferably brisk ones and they also need to be taken on jogs or made to run alongside the owner on a daily basis.
