Kuvasz
The Kuvasz is originally said to originate from Tibet. But then it was developed into the breed that it is today in Hungary. These dogs were said to have been owned by royalty and it is also said they the king trusted only these dogs and no other humans. These dogs were usually considered as a royal gift to be given. These dogs were mainly used as flock guardian. Along with this they were also used for the hunting purpose, especially for hunting animals like the wild boar and the bears. These dogs are also known as the Hungarian Kuvasz.
These dogs are quite well known for their fearlessness. They make very bold flock guardians. The head is said to be the best feature of the dog, at least in the show ring it is said so. They have a perfectly proportional muzzle when compared to their heads. They have a stop which is very well defined all though not abrupt. They have a black colored nose which is accompanied with large nostrils. They have black colored lips as well. They have very thick ears and set back. These ears are shaped like a v and are kind of rounded at the very tip. They have almond shaped eyes. Their eyes are usually dark brown colored and set well apart. They have a medium sized body. Its length is larger as compared to their heights.
They have a low carried tail. These dogs show their excitement by slightly raising their tails. They have well padded feet. The declaws on the front are allowed to grow however, the ones on their back legs are usually removed off. They have a mane on their necks that usually reach up to their chest. These dogs are very intelligent and make excellent house dogs; however, this is only if they have owners who have the ability of displaying a natural but yet a firm authority over these dogs. They also need to be socialized properly and given enough training and also need to be raised with a lot of children around them from the start. Considering the above requirements, these dogs are not recommended for all families. These dogs were initially bred for the purpose of guarding the live stock and thus have very strong protective instincts and are also very territorial.
They are said to make very good house dogs and are also very easy to house break. But due to their large size and their extra protective instincts, extra responsibility on the side of the owner is very necessary. They are very loyal and when required are always ready to very fiercely an aggressively defend and protect their people. They tend to form really strong bonds with its family members, however it is necessary that these dogs see that the humans have a stronger mind than them or else they get very stand offish with the humans.
