Kyi-Leo

The Kyi-Leo is a small but yet a very sturdy breed of dog. These dogs are also very rare. These are said to originate from San Francisco. They originated by accidentally crossing 2 different breeds of dogs. These 2 different breed of dogs were the Maltese and the Lhasa Apso. The result of this accidental crossing was an attractive but yet a very distinct type of dog which then, very quickly came in to the attention of many individuals.

These dogs are small yet very solid dogs. When compared to their size, they are quite well boned and have a very good muscle tone. These dogs are very light on their feet and are also very quick. When they are alert, they show their alertness by shown by curling their tails over their backs. They have very dark eyes and their nose is pitch black. They have teeth that meet and make a scissor bite. They have long and straight forelegs. Their coat is also usually long and very thick in nature. This long and thick coast of theirs, either hangs straight or maybe a little wavy.

They also have a natural part that normally tends to form alongside the spine. It is quite normal if their coat does not grow as much when they are just puppies, because on an average, their coat takes about 3 years to 4 years to grow to their maximum full length. Most of these dogs are either black or white. They may sometimes, occasionally change their colors to either silver or grey and white. Their head is quite invisible because, it is completely covered with their long hair. They also have the presence of a beard and whiskers.

A new born dog of this breed is so small that it will fit in to the palm of any human hand. When fully grown, that is, an adult dog grows up to approximately, ranging from 8 inches to 12 inches in height and it weighs around 9 pounds to about 14 pounds. Their coat is very silky and sometimes may even be golden in color. Their coat grows up to long and attractive lengths but if trimmed and taken care of properly never touch the ground. They have a very short and a snout face. They also have a very short bushy tail.

They have the ability to stand only on their hind legs and also make very fast and quite passionate sprints. These dogs also have the natural capability of swimming, if not for long, then at least short distances. These dogs are not very fond of water. These dogs, as they have very delicate feet, they cannot jump very high heights. They lack the jumping spring in their legs and thus can manage to jump only a maximum of 2 feet to 3 feet of height. Quite like all dogs, these dogs too have a highly developed sense of smell and a very acute sense of hearing. They are quite similar in appearance to the Shih Tzu breed of dogs; this is mainly due to their similar body sizes, shapes and so on.
