Labrador Husky
The Labrador husky is type of spitz dog. These dogs were bred mainly for the purpose of working as an excellent, strong and a very fast sled dog. These dogs are not crossed but are pure bred and are said to originate from the country of Canada. These dogs are very rare outside of their native, that is, Canada and thus are not very well known. As the name may suggest, these dogs are not a cross between a Labrador retriever and a Husky. These dogs currently are not recognized by any breed clubs. These dogs are also known as the Labradorian Sled dog.
These dogs have a very close resemblance to a wolf. This may be because of their relation to the wolf species. These dogs are quite large in size. They may normally weigh between a minimum of 60 pounds to a maximum of 100 pounds. And in height, they may range from approximately 20 inches to 28 inches. Their head is round shaped and is covered with a lot of fluffy fur which leads to their muzzles which is normally long and narrow giving them their wolf like appearance. Their large bodies are also covered with their fluffy fur. They are double coated and this is mainly to protect and keep them safe from the freezing cold weather. They have a very wide chest and also very heavy bones.
This breed of dogs has existed for nearly almost a hundred years now and it continues being very unique because they are practically isolated from the other northern dog breeds. The invention of snow mobiles has now shifted their purpose from pulling the sleds in the snow to house pets. But they are still used popularly by those who still prefer the dog team over the snow mobiles. It has a very dense coat and this helps it to survive the extreme cold environmental conditions of its place of origin.
Their coat colors may vary from dog to dog. They are normally either solid white or the opposite, that is, solid black in color. They may also be a combination of black and white, gray and white or even sometimes in a few cases, red and white. The red and white combination is very uncommon and rare. There are a lot of northern dog breeds but of them all, the Labrador husky is the rarest of all. It is said that there are only an estimated 50 to 60 dogs of this breed remaining.
These dogs are not quite like the other northern dig breeds. They have the tendency to get very unfriendly or in some extreme cases even very aggressive when it comes to strangers. However, this can be avoided if they are properly socialized. When reared with children around them, they grow up to be very good with them. As they are bred and it is in their nature to work well in a pack of dogs, they are always happy with the company of other dogs. Due to their high intelligence level, they are very easy and fun to train. They are also known to be very loyal and make good and trusted companions. They rarely bark and normally stick to howling instead.
