MALLORQUIN DOGGE


Its name in mallorquin, Ca de Bou, (“bull dog”), comes from its fighting dog past, in the then popular bull fighting. Its origin was due to crossings between the peninsular dogges, surely led to the Balearic Islands during James the First’s conquests, with other English molossers. It is used as a watch and defense dog.

PHYSICAL TRAITS of the MALLORQUIN DOGGE
It is a strong, athletic, brawny and powerful animal, 66 to 73 cm in height to the cross. It has a solid head, expressive eyes, oval in shape, very dark and with a specially penetrating gaze, wide ears, set high and backward movement, which makes the hearing pavilion visible. The fur is short and shiny, normally tawny in their several shades, but can also be black and tabby.

TEMPERAMENT AND ADAPTATION of the MALLORQUIN DOGGE
Its courage and mistrust before strangers make the mallorquin dogge an excellent guardian. It can be said that is a one master dog, which it cares for with extreme fidelity and great affection, although it is also kind and obedient towards the rest of the family, but sometimes is shy, which usually draws attention to an animal this impressive. It requires firm while loving training. It does not adapt well to life in the city.

It doesn’t require special care, in its hair or diet, but it does need time for daily exercise needs.
