MINIATURE PINSCHER

It is the smallest of pinschers. It is a miniature breed but has no vestige of dwarfism, whose origin is only known to be ancient. From 1900, when it was first included in a show, American breeders imported some specimens to develop the breed in North America. During some time it was very popular amongst the ladies in the European courts and in European and United State’s gentry.

The big, always shining and somewhat bulging eyes, of the miniature pinscher, give it a very tender expression: as if it was asking for love.

PHYSICAL TRAITS of the MINIATURE PINSCHER
It is a small dog that barely stands apart from the medium pinscher because of its size, evidently shorter, from 25 to 30 cm in males and 22 to 28 cm in females, with a weight established from 2.5 to 4 kg in both genders. The head is flat, ears high and bent and the eyes round, bulging and very lively. The fur is short, thick and shiny; it can be bluish gray, tawny, chestnut or black.

TEMPERAMENT AND ADAPTATION of the MINIATURE PINSCHER
Attentive, cheerful and playful, it is a little nervous and very active. It can sometimes be arrogant and untrusting to strangers, but very affectionate, loyal and protective instinct towards the family, especially with its most direct owner. It is very easy to train and adapts to any family, it is ideal for an apartment due to its size and temperament.

EXERCISE AND CARE required for a MINIATURE PINSCHER
It s a very clean dog, for which a couple of weekly brushings are enough to achieve a healthy and shiny fur. The nails have to be clipped if they are not worn by friction. In order to fulfill its exercise needs, it is enough to let it run around a little during its daily walks.
