Mountain View Cur


The Mountain View cur is another breed of the hound group. These dogs are primarily hunting animals. They were first bred by a couple in Kentucky. They are working dogs that are used for trailing and even treeing game. They usually hunt Raccoons and Squirrels but can hunt big game as well. A fully grown Mountain View cur weighs 16-29 kgs and stands 46-66cms tall. This breed of dog is very healthy. They are not known to have any genetic tendencies or deformities. They are among the healthiest breed of dogs. These dogs are not meant for apartment life. They are happiest while at work.

The Mountain View cur is usually seen in a rich dark yellow or light blonde colour. They are sometimes seen in solid colours of black and brindle. These dogs are either born bob tailed or have their tails docked when they are a few days old. There are some puppies born with dew claws but these dew claws are also removed once they are a few days old. Mountain View curs have an excellent disposition with people. They are especially good with children and love being around them. These curs are very protective of their family and make wonderful watch dogs. They are able to sense trouble and will attempt to keep it at bay. This dog is always eager to please and will do anything for their masters. They enjoy being part of a family.

The Mountain View cur is a very independent dog and hardly ever needs to be kept on a leash. They are very obedient animals. These hunting dogs will be protective of their hunting companions as well as be vigilant watch dogs. They have the ability to track any game and will give a locating bark once they have spotted the game. The Mountain View cur will essentially hunt tree animals but if trained they will hunt other game as well. The Mountain View cur is highly intelligent dog. They are thus sought after for rescue missions. These dogs have a knack for sniffing out trouble and will do what they can to help, if they don’t sense a threat.

The Mountain View cur can be trained to swim as well as rescue drowning people. This dog makes a very loving and affectionate companion. They will not enjoy being in a closed space. They like the great outdoors and will enjoy being out most of the time. They are happy while working and can even be trained to protect herds. This dog is very hyper and needs ample amount of exercise to keep them calm. These dogs are very easy to groom and do not require much grooming. An occasional combing to remove dead skin is all that is needed. Special attention does need to be given to their paws and their nails need to be trimmed regularly. The Mountain View cur enjoys sports and adventure. This breed of dog will live from anywhere between 12-16 years.
