Northern Inuit Dog
Towards the end of the 1980s there were a lot of rescue dogs being used. These dogs, although being very effective, were unknown when it came to their breed and origin. The founder of the northern Inuit dog, Eddie Harrison, crossed these unknown dogs with dogs like the Siberian husky, the Alaskan malamute and even the German shepherd. The result of these crossings was the origination of these northern Inuit dogs. The breed of German shepherd dogs were included in this mainly and only for training purposes. These dogs, as the name may suggest are not at all northern in origin. The main purpose behind developing these dogs was to meet the need of having a dog that would look like a wolf in its appearance but yet have a very gentle character to it, more like a domestic dog.
These dogs, like all other dogs need to go to a house that is very knowledgeable. This is because these dogs have an ancestry that contains a lot of primitive spitz type breed of dogs. These dogs like to be around a lot of people. They do not do well when left alone as they tend to get very lonely. If left alone for a long period of time, these dogs may develop a severe case of separation anxiety. A breeder should be aware of any sorts of health problems these dogs may suffer from and should make sure that these dogs are tested properly and they should also make an effort to keep these dogs healthy and fit. These dogs are not recognized by a lot of kennel clubs. They are however recognized by only a few of these kennel clubs. This is mainly because these dogs are very rare.
These dogs make an excellent companion dogs. These dogs also take part in a lot of shows and completions. This is mainly due to the fact that these dogs are very obedient and are quite easy to train. They also have excellent agility. They however do not have the ability and the talent required to compete in the sled dog events, like pulling a rig and so on. They cannot compete in any kind of canine crosses either.
These dogs were known to be used mainly for the purpose of being a guard dog. These dogs also have the ability and the talent to be excellent watch dogs as well. They have the amazing ability to work for very long periods of time and go on working endlessly. They are also known to provide protection. However, in today’s world, these dogs have attained a lot of popularity as being a companion as well as a working dog as well. These dogs are of medium size. They have the tendency to be very athletic. Their bone is just medium enough, not too light not too heavy. Their length is slightly larger when compared to their height. They have a medium sized skull which is slightly domed. They also have a strong muzzle.
