Pachon Navarro

The Pachon Navarro is a breed of hunting dogs. These dogs were originated in parts of Spain. These Spanish hunters are quite large in size. These dogs are quite old as they have been around since the late 1800’s. They nearly faced extinction in the early 1900’s but were revived again. These dogs are very friendly and can get along with most humans and other dogs. These dogs can either be long haired or short haired. These dogs have a very unusual nose structure that heightens their sense of smell. This helps them greatly when they are hunting. These dogs have the standard features of a split or double nose. The Navarro was a very brave hunter and had superior tracking abilities. Their sense of smell is what makes them excellent hunting dogs.

The Pachon Navarro has a double nose that is quite a rare feature in dogs. The double nose means that the nose of this breed is split right down the middle. They have a separating line of fur that extends all the way to the upper lip of the face. This is what gives them the name of split nosed hunters. These dogs are very hard to ignore because of the substantial size. They stand at about 48-57 cms tall and weight anywhere between 27 and 33 kgs. These dogs are characterized by their ability to point the direction in which the game is. This ability makes them great hunting companions. They are very friendly and loyal as well. They have immense physical strength and can fight other bigger animals. This makes them ideal hunting companions. They can be used as house pets as well because of the sunny disposition.

The Pachon Navarro is a kind of Braque hunting dog. This means that they point out their game. These dogs are not very furry. They have short haired coats that are very easy to maintain. They can have longer coats as well but this is very rare. The longer coats are rather silky in texture and give the dog a furry appearance. The more common variety is the short haired dog. Their coats are usually seen in either a white and liver or a white and orange color combination. Their coats more often than not are ticked. Ticked implies that the coat is freckled with a certain color. The Pachon Navarro has a large and substantial head. They have broad foreheads with rather expressive eyebrows.

The Pachon Navarro has a relatively short mastiff with a well defined stop. Their ears are nice and long and are placed quite low on the head. The ears of this dog needs to be given special attention. These dogs are quite healthy otherwise. They can be prone to hip dyplasia as is the case with most big dogs. These dogs do not require much grooming and quite self sufficient. They are not suited for apartment life. Thy need lots of space to move around. They are very affectionate animals.
