Paisley Terrier
The Paisley Terrier a rather small dog. These dogs were originally bred to be house pets. They were also exceptionally good show dogs. These dogs were first seen in parts of Great Britain. These dogs are from the terrier family of dogs. This breed is now and extinct breed. These dogs originated in Scotland. They were given the name Paisley because of the place they were bred in. These dogs had long silky coats that abundantly covered most of their body. They were very short and small in general. Their face was also covered by this silky coat of hair. These dogs were very adorable suited for home life. They could live in small places without any hassle.
The Paisley Terrier looked very similar to the Skye terrier of today. These dogs were shorter and lighter than the Skye terrier. The Paisley terriers weighed in at about 7 kgs which is about half the current weight of the Skye terriers. The Paisley Terrier was covered in a silky to coat with a soft and smooth under coat. These had a flowing appearance. Their hair reached down to the floor, skimming the surface as they walked. The legs of the dog were not visible under their silken cover. These dogs were usually seen in a pale tan and blue color. Their coats were always very shiny and did require quite a bit of maintenance. These dogs had a lot of feathering that noticed all over their body. They had long ears that seemed even longer due to the immense feathering of the coat. Their ears were held quite high on their heads.
The Paisley terrier had a rather small head. They had a short mastiff with no defined stop. The nose of this dog was barely visible under the fur. These dogs always won accolades for their beautiful coats. They were dogs that most ladies owned to keep themselves entertained. Many people described the dogs a pet for women who wanted more than a toy. This dog was very friendly and could easily be carried around everywhere. They needed a lot of attention and looking after. They could not be left alone for long hours as they could get depressed or aggressive. These dogs were quite noisy and had to be taught to refrain from barking with reason. These dogs were very popular with the women in the 1800’s.
The Paisley terrier is a dog that requires a substantial amount of grooming. These dogs need to be brushed on a regular basis to remove and dead skin. They needed to be given a bath regularly and their coats needs to be blow dried. They needed to have their coats trimmed at regular intervals. Grooming was one of the main aspects of keeping a Paisley terrier. These dogs could be easily house broken and were very loyal to their masters. They loved being part of a family and enjoyed attention. These dogs went extinct because of their immense grooming requirements.
