These dogs are believed to be a direct descendant of the Egyptian dogs. These dogs also go by the name Canarian Warren Hound. These dogs are also often considered to be one of the earliest dogs to come in to existence. These dogs are extremely rare dogs. These dogs are valued for a lot of their talents, however, the most valued of all these talents would be their exceptional hunting abilities and also their impressive tracking abilities. They were quite often used for the purpose of tracking hare and ferrets as well. These dogs when compared to other hunting dogs follow a very different method of hunting.

These dogs are known to usually hunt in groups. These dogs have an excellent sense of smell; they have an excellent vision and are also have a heightened sense of hearing. These dogs in a bunch use all theses abilities of theirs to their advantage while hunting and thus they track their prey. There is another very unique thing about the way they hunt. These dogs do not bark when they have tracked down their prey, neither do they attack on the prey. Instead, they simply point at the direction of the prey until the hunter gets there. Then depending on the hunters signal, they would do whatever they were ordered to do. These dogs get their name from the place of their origin, the Canary Islands. These dogs are a bunch of medium sized dogs. Their bodies are on the rather longer side. Their bodies are very slender but yet are very muscular. These dogs are very light in weight. This gives them the advantage over other hunting dogs and has the tendency of running for a long period of time, practically the whole day. The light weight also is the reason why they have a very energetic trot to them. These dogs are very intelligent and also love a companion. These dogs along with being used for hunting are used as a house pet as well.

These dogs have an emaciated appearance. These dogs are also said to have a well developed skeleton. These dogs have very little or no fat at all below their skin. These dogs have an elongated head. Their head is quite like a scone in shape. Their head is in perfect proportion with the rest of their body. The length of the body is slightly larger when compared to the height of their body. They have a quite a prominent muzzle. Their muzzle is quite large and has a blunt cone like shape. These dogs have a very large nose. Their large noses are accompanied by a pair of wide nostrils. They do not have any specific color for their noses. Their noses are colored such that they color of their nose in is harmony with the color of their coat. They have a very tight and a fine lip. Their lips do not have any specific color as well. They are colored so as to match the color of their coat.
