Polish Hound

These dogs, as the name suggest, originate from Poland. These dogs also go by the name Ogar Polski. These dogs were also used for the purpose of hunting. These dogs are an ancient breed and like any other ancient breed; they are not very well known. These dogs are known to be very passionate when it comes to hunting. They are noted and are popular for their impressive scenting abilities. These dogs are a favourite of the polish hunters. This is because they have a very resonant voice and also because these dogs have the ability to work very well and very efficiently in all kinds of terrain and also in any kind of extreme weather conditions.

These dogs are quite large in size and thus, these dogs are said to mature quite slowly. These dogs have an average life span of about 13 years to 14 years. These dogs, when it comes to eating are not at all finicky in nature. These dogs are mainly used for the purpose of hunting. These dogs are very rare and have quite a small population of them left. These dogs along with being used for hunting purposes are also used as a companion dog and a house pet. These dogs are highly intellig4nt and thus it is very easy to train these dogs. These dogs are very wary and reserved when it comes to strangers and they tend to get very protective of their owners and their family members and thus these dogs have the talents and the ability to make wonderful watch dogs.

These dogs have an extra ordinary sense of smell and thus these dogs are scent hounds. They have a very impressive muscular body. There is quite a clear distinction between the males and the females of the breed. The females have a very subtle stature to them while the male dogs of this breed have a rather heavy conformation. There is another difference between the males and the females. This is in their trailing features. When in a trail they can be easily differentiated because the females have a rather high pitched voice when compared to that of the male dogs of this breed. These dogs have incredible strength as well as endurance; this is because they have a very strong bone structure and a very compact build. These dogs have a very noble head that may have the presence of a lot of wrinkles on the fore head.

They have an elongated and a truncated muzzle. This muzzle is neither wedge shaped nor is it pointed, it is somewhere in between. They have a large nose that is black in color. These digs also have the presence of a strong pair of jaw bones. They have thick and drooping lips. Their teeth generally meet to form a regular yet very powerful bite. They have a pair of slanted eyes. These eyes are dark brown in color and carry a very gentle and a serene expression in them. They have a pair of rather long ears. These ears are slightly rounded at the tips and are set quite low on their heads. They usually tend to hand quite close to the head.
