PRIMITIVE SPITZ

In this dogs bred to perform not only a determinate job are included in this group. There are sled dogs towing loads or transporting people, sometimes in very harsh atmospheric conditions and uneven terrains; those that guard and protect homes and those that gather herds, obeying their masters with unconditional loyalty. There are also those that fought against other dogs or against other much larger and stronger animals, such as bears or bulls; all these dogs were later used in collaboration tasks with the military and police.

This group includes very different breeds and so ancient that they have kept practically intact despite their centuries on the earth. They are brave and friendly dogs, always in a state of alert. In many cases their owners lives depend on then and they know that they can be confident that they have unconditional help. They mature slowly and, in general, don’t reach their adult form until they are over three years.

Amongst the breeds in this group are those in large sizes and brave behavior, bold and intrepid descending from the mastiff, and keeping the wolves’ trait and that, perfectly integrated in human society, serve the masters alone or as a fact. The second are those that descent from the spitz, and keep the energy and strength that make them unique. Most of these dogs, of different traits and different behaviors have the same sense of duty and a kind of innate commitment towards man which they fulfill diligently and gives itself the primary function of its existence.

The spitz was taken from central Russia, in the Volga area, to the current Finland by hunting tribes around 2,000 years ago.
