Pungsan dog
The Pungsan dog is a Korean breed of dog. They were first seen in parts of North Korea. This dog is almost always seen in a creamy white colored coat. These dogs appear to be very furry but do not have that much fur. Their fur is of medium length with feathering noticed in some places, giving the dog a furry appearance. These dogs have quite curled tails. Their tails are held high and curled towards the body at all times. There is heavy feathering that is notices on the tail. These dogs are actually mountain dogs. They were first seen in the mountains of Pungsan which is where the dogs were bred originally. Their region of origin gave the dog their name. The Pungsan has an almost wolf like appearance. The Pungsan dog is a mix of a certain breed of wolf found in the mountains of North Korea. This Korean dog has short triangular ears that are always pricked up. They are very sensitive to sound and can sense things approaching from far away. These dogs will not do well with very harsh treatment. These dogs were bred in the mountains and hence their coats were built for the cold and harsh climate of the region. These dogs have a nice double layered coat. They have very thick fur that is of a medium length. The hair of the dog is very fine and smooth to touch. These dogs have enough covering to keep them warm in winter. These dogs do tend to shed a fair amount of hair in the summer. They are built for the cold and will not do well in very warm climates.
The Pungsan dog is seen very commonly in various parts of North Korea. This dog is not very popular outside Korea. They are thus considered native Korean dogs. The Pungsan dog is a hunter by nature; these dogs were bred to hunt large animals like the tiger. These dogs are very fierce fighters and can be aggressive when needed. The Pungsan dog will not be social with everyone they meet. They are wary of strangers and will need to be socialized early on. The Pungsan dog has a very strong build. They have short but strong limbs that are built for speed. These dogs exhibit a great deal of agility and are very quick once they have spotted their prey. The Pungsan dog is used to having large free expanses to run around in and will thus not do well in an apartment.
The Pungsan dog is very adorable as a puppy. These dogs are very intelligent and are easily trained. These dogs do tend to chew a lot so when they are puppies it is recommended to give them lots of chew toys. These dogs are very loyal to their masters. They are friendly with known people and quite aloof with others. These dogs are very brave and have a great deal of stamina. Lots of exercise required.
