The Rajapalayam is a type of hound dog. These dogs were first bred in India. These dogs are sight hounds. They are usually seen in a bright white color. They have a short fine coat and are quite tall. These dogs were first seen in several parts of South India. These dogs were seen accompanying the royals of ancient India. These dogs were seen specifically in a district called Rajapalayam in South India which is where the dog got its name from. These dogs are very sturdy animals. They are independent dogs and can take care of themselves. These dogs are usually always seen with a pretty pink nose. The rims of their eyes also can have a pinkish glow. This Pink color comes from the fact that the dog is such a bright white color.

The Rajapalayam stands at about 65 to 75 cms tall at the withers. The males are considerably taller than the females. The males also tend to have a larger face. These dogs are hunters and built like them too. They are lean and muscular and are never really fat. These dogs have a well defined curved body. The belly is tucked in with a high arch. The dog has a long tail with no feathering noticed. These dogs have strong and powerful limbs that a built for speed and grace. These dogs are very agile and can fight most big animals. These dogs have larger bones than most other sight hounds. The Rajapalayam is a hound dog and will need lots of exercise to keep it in shape. These dogs are happiest when they have some work to do.
