Rastreador Brasileiro
The Rastreador Brasileiro is a Brazilian breed of dog. This dog is called the Brazilian tracker in English. These dogs are a type of hound. They are very good hunters. They have a superior sense of smell. They can track animals from long distances. These dogs are experts at following a trail. They are not very large dogs but are fierce when they need to be. These dogs were declared extinct after an epidemic disease. There were efforts made to revive the breed but the breed is still very rare. These dogs were very useful hunters and made great companions. They were intelligent dogs that were eager to please. These dogs were very obedient once trained. The Brazilian tracker had the ability to sense people’s feelings and was very receptive. They thus made faithful companions to their masters.
The Brazilian tracker stands at about 62 to 67 cms tall. These dogs are not very heavy. Their weight is usually proportionate to their height. These dogs are usually never seen in a solid colored coat. Their coats are mainly spotted. They have fine and smooth hair that is very easy to take care of. These dogs are independent and do not require much care. They do however require lots of love and attention. These dogs are not very playful and are wary of strangers. They need to be socialized as puppies. They can be aggressive when need be. These dogs are very protective and thus make good watch dogs. These dogs are not very gentle and calm and are hence not recommended for homes with elderly people or small children.
The Brazilian tracker does not suffer from any known genetic health problems. They are fairly sturdy dogs and do not give up easily. These dogs are very string willed and can be a little hard to train. They will require a firm and patient handler. These dogs should be given love but need rules to follow as well. They are not happy sitting at home. These dogs need some work to do and will be happiest when they are work. They love physical exercise and will enjoy long hikes and walks with their owner. They enjoy any form of adventure and will love a camping trip as well. These dogs are very affectionate with the people they know. They are wary of strangers and will let their feelings be known. They do not get along well with other pets as they are quite territorial. These dogs require lots of space.
These dogs were bred in warm climates and can not adjust well to very cold weather. They prefer being in the sun. These dogs have a fine coat that is built for tough weather. They can withstand extreme weather conditions. These dogs like to chew things so they need to be given lots of chew toys. They are known to get destructive by ripping apart furniture and soft toys if left alone for long hours. These dogs are great chasers.
