Russell Terrier
The Russell Terrier is an English dog from the terrier family. These dogs were first bred in England as working dogs. The Russell terrier is also known as the jack Russell terrier. These dogs have a very strong instinct to hunt any kind of quarry underground. These dogs range in size from small to medium. This breed is not very furry but their coat does show some sign of feathering throughout the body. The Russell Terrier is a very sought after breed. They make excellent companions and have the ability to sniff out and scent of anything buried out of sight. These dogs are very energetic and full of life. They are excitable and can be very noisy. They have amazing instincts and know how to put them to good use. These dogs have the ideal body structure to be an underground work dog.

Their skull is rather flat with ample space around the face and narrow around the eyes. They eyes of the dog are usually seen in a dark color. They have eyes in an almond shape. These dogs have very expressive eyes. The face should have an intelligent and, lively look. These dogs are very athletic. Their limbs are well defined and muscular. Their limbs should be built for speed and digging up things. These dogs have rather large paws. But this comes in handy when they are searching for buried things.
The Russell terrier is a very lovable and affectionate dog. These dogs are quite noisy and will need to be trained not to bark without reason. These dogs have a tendency to chase things and should not be left without a leash. They do not get along well with non canine pets. These dogs should be socialized with people early on. They are not very aggressive but when they sense a threat these dogs can snap. These dogs are completely fearless. They have a wonderful lively spirit and will keep everyone amused. These dogs will enjoy playing with all kinds of toys. They are very playful and should have lots of play time with their family. These dogs will need ample exercise as they have a lot of energy. These dogs stand at 25-38 cms tall and weigh in at about 6-8 kgs. These dogs can adjust to life in an apartment but will prefer a large place to run around in as most dogs do. These dogs have a life expectancy of 15 or more years.
