Sabueso Espangnol


The Sabueso Espangnol is a Spanish breed of dog. These dogs were first bred as hunting dogs. This breed is called the Spanish Beagle in English. This dog has long ears that are characteristic to the beagle family. These dogs are not very big. They are more often than not wider than they are long. This gives the dog quite a stout appearance. They will require lots of exercise to keep them physically fit. This dog is very short. Their legs are not long at all but are still quite strong. This dog is a type of scent hound. These dogs are very good at tracking and are known for their ability to point their hunters in the right direction. These dogs make very good companions. These dogs were seen quite early on in the fourteenth century. These dogs are experts at sniffing out game that has already been wounded.

These dogs stand at about 18 to 22 inches tall. This is measured at the shoulders. They weigh in at about 45 to 55 pounds. This dog is not very proportionate in size. The Spanish Beagle or hound as they are more commonly called has a long tail. These dogs are very similar to the foxhound in appearance. They have a medium sized muzzle with a very well defined stop. The nose is always seen in a dark color. These dogs have a short smooth coat. The coat does not have any feathering. The coat is usually seen in a red drown with white markings. There are black markings sometimes that can be accepted. These dogs are never seen in a solid colored coat. The coat is naturally shiny and does not need much grooming. These dogs will need to be brushed on a regular basis to remove all the dead skin.

The Spanish Beagle is a very temperamental dog. These dogs can be aloof and aggressive on occasion. They are not friendly with everyone they meet but are affectionate with their masters. These dogs are very loyal. They are very protective of their families and make fair watch dogs. These dogs are intelligent but not very obedient. They are not very easy dogs to train. They will require a firm and patient handler. This dog is not easy to house break. These dogs are very energetic and full of life.

They love running around and will not appreciate being left alone for long hours. Even though the dog is not very big they will do better in a larger area they may not adapt to life in an apartment. These dogs are quite rarely seen in places other than Spain. This dog will require a lot of obedience training. They need a set of rules to follow at all times. This dog can be prone to some health problems. They have very long ears and hence ear infections are quite common. These dogs do not make very good house pets. They prefer working in the great outdoors.
