Schillerstovare

The Schillerstovare literally translated means the Schiller hound. This is an English dog. These dogs are from the hound family. This dog is essentially a scent hound. These dogs were first seen in various parts of Sweden. These dogs make excellent hunting companions. They are aces at sniffing out trail. They can track animals from a large distance. This dog is a very resourceful hunter. These dogs’ are very brave and can fight animals twice their size. These dogs mainly point out the direction of the game to their hunting companions. These are the fastest hounds in Scandinavia. This dog is able to live in extremely cold climates. They seem almost comfortable in freezing climatic conditions. This dog is very fast and agile. They are typical of scent hounds. This dog makes and excellent pet. These dogs are very powerful they can remain on hunting expeditions even on snow days.

The Schiller hound is about 46-60 cms tall. The females are considerably shorter than the males. These dogs weigh in at about 18-25 kgs. The males and females are pretty much weigh the same. These dogs are a medium sized breed. They are very handsome hunters. These dogs have nice and well defined bones. Their body is lean yet muscular. This dog is very powerful and fast. They are agile and graceful. These dogs have very muscular limbs. Their chests are broad and quite deep. These dogs have medium sized ears that fall downwards towards the face. These dogs are considered to be very beautiful. They have triangular shaped heads that are quite long. They have a long muzzle with a well defined stop. The dog is usually seen in a color with black markings. The black perfectly off sets the tan color of the dog. The dog has rather short hair with a double layered. The coat is dense and soft. Their coats keep them warm in all kinds of weather.

The Schillerstovare is a very affectionate and lively dog. These dogs are very intelligent and are eager to please. This breed is quite easy to train. They are very willing to learn and Are obedient once trained. These dogs make very energetic hunting companions. They are surprisingly calm when they are at home. These dogs are very good with children. They are very excited and lively while playing with them. These dogs show a lot of excitement when they are being taken for a walk or for play time with their family.

These dogs are not very good with non canine pets. They will not take well to apartment life either. This dog is best suited for owners with a large space for the dog to run around in. This dog will need to be brushed regularly. These dogs will need to be checked for foreign bodies and insects in their coat after a hunting trip. They are rather sturdy dogs and do not suffer from any known genetic health problems. These dogs have a long tail.
