Shikoku

This dog is also known by other names, such as, Kochi ken. This breed of dogs is very rare to find outside o its native, this breed is rather rare seen in side its native country. This dog is said to have originated in the country of Japan. It was in the year of 1937, which this dog was actually officially established as the national treasure of Japan and till today, it is still considered as one and is still very rare to find. In its native country, that is the country of Japan, the main purpose behind breeding and developing this breed of dog was to hunt animals, especially, the animals like deer and wild boar as well. This do was best suited for the mountainous terrain of the island where they were developed, that is the island of Shikoku, and hence the name of the dog. These dogs are safely considered as one of the purest breed of dogs that exist even today.

This pureness of the dog is mainly due to the isolated and remote land that they were developed in. This isolation and the remoteness did not support crossing of dogs. The dogs of this breed have a very thick coat they are double coated animals, that is, the dogs of this bred have two different layers of coats on their body, the first coat is the outer coat, and the second one that is below the first coat is called in the inner coat of the under coat. The dogs of this breed have a pair of erect ears. Their tail is always held in the curled fashion. They have the presence of very compact natured feet. The set of teeth on the dogs of this breed generally tend to meet to form a very strong and as equally powerful scissor bite. This dog has a pair of almond shaped eyes.

These almond shaped eyes are generally in a slanted nature. These almond shaped and slanted eyes are generally dark brown in color. The color of the coat of these dogs may range from red color, red sesame color, black or may be black sesame color. This dog is rather strongly ties, when it comes to their nature. They are known to be very brave and equally cautions. The dogs of this breed are also said to have very good judgement skills.

These dogs are very loyal to their master and also equally submissive in nature. The dogs of this breed have one unique quality in them and that is the fact that they love to be touched and also often love to give a lot of kisses and get a lot of kisses. This character however, may be a little less when it comes to strangers, as they are rather aloof when it comes to new people. When they are raise with a lot of children around them, they adapt to that environment and tend to do very well with kids. They also have a very high level of intelligence and learn new things very fast.
