Silken Windhound

The kennel to report the existence of the first ever long haired yet small sized sight hounds was the kennel Windsprite, located in the United States of America. This was reported somewhere around the 1960s. These reported long haired small sized dogs were basically based of the bred of dogs called Whippets, however, from where the dogs get their long hair trait still remains unclear and as a mystery. The dogs of this breed are rather small in sized. Even though they are on the smaller side, they are hardy dogs. They also have a very strikingly elegant appearance, quite like all sight hound. From this it is quite clear that they are sight hounds. They have a very silky coat. This silky coat is not to be mistaken to be delicate; it on the other hand, is very protective. The dogs of this breed are known to be a very athletic in nature.

These dogs have a hallmark feature in them, and that would be their extremely classic and also very sweeping lines. As the dogs are very athletic in nature, they have a very athletically built up body. Their coat along with being silky and also very protective in nature is also said to be very luxurious in nature. This dog is extremely good in running over a long distance in a short period of time. One of the features of this dogs that helps it be such a capable runner is the fact that its size and the structure f the body of the dog is such a way that it is best suited for running in all kinds of terrain and bear all kinds of extreme weather conditions.

They also tend to get very competitive when they are made to take part in any kind of dog sports. The dogs can manage any kind of unpredictable weather conditions. When these silken wind hound dogs are viewed at from the side, they have a very impressive appearance. They have appearance that is of remarkable and wordless beauty which as if not enough is, integrated with exceptionally good running ability, as mentioned earlier. They have the presence of head which is rather chiselled head. This chiselled head is held up high by a long neck. This long neck is quite arched in nature. Their brisket has a rather dramatic depth to it.

They have a very extreme tucked up ending. This ending is carried forward by a very graceful sweep of its long tail. This graceful tail of the dog is usually carried rather low. The dogs of this breed are said to have a very high level of intelligence. They also have a very desire of pleasing its fellow humans. They are also said to be very dignified in nature and are said to carry themselves in a very dignified and a collected manner. However, if it’s someone that this dog if fond of, then it does not seem to bother about dignity and openly show their affection.
