Slovak Cuvac

It is said that this dog has existed since as early as the 17th century. With the slow decrease in the numbers of wolves in the European mountains and the modern practices of herding became more and more popular, the number of this Slovak cuvak breed of dogs started to decrease at such a rate that they were almost extinct. It was due to the honest and hard efforts of a man named Dr. Antonin Hruza that this breed was saved. This man was from the Brno school of veterinary medicine. It was his breeding program that took place after the World War 2, that was very successful and thus this breed was brought out of extinction.

This dog has slight similarities to the Kuvasz dog; however, the kuvasz dog is slightly larger than the Slovak cuvac in size. This dog is very popular in the parts of central Europe. However, despite of this popularity, this dog still remains very rare. This dog is a highly talented one. A few of its many talents are guard dog, that is, guarding its flock from all the wolves and other kinds of predators as well, hunting, search and rescue as well. The dogs belonging to this breed have a medium sized head. This medium sized head is such that it is in perfect proportion with the medium sized body of the dog. These medium sized and perfectly proportionally head is held up high with the help of a very powerful and an equally strong neck. This strong and powerful neck is also in proportion with the head of the dog and also with the rest of the body of the dog.

The dogs also have the presence of a very broad chest. Their broad chest is also accompanied with ribs that are very well sprung in nature. The pair of thighs that this dog has is very muscular in nature. The hips of these dogs are also very muscular in nature. The tail that this dog has is very densely covered with hair. This dog is a double coated dog. That is, this dog has the presence of 2 layers of coats, that is, the inner coat or the under coat and the upper coat or the top coat. The coat of this dog is pure white in color. They have a top coat that is very thick in nature and their inner coat is very dense in nature.

This dog is a very powerful dog. The dogs of this breed are also said to be very calm natured dogs. It is also said that this dog makes a very loyal flock guardian. They are very courageous and also equally fearless in nature. They will defend their flock and their territory with a lot of bravery. They will defend their pack with everything they have, be the pack include animals or even humans. These dogs are very affectionate, as in like, very dramatically affectionate when it comes to the members of its family. However, they are not so affectionate, as a matter of fact; they are not affectionate at all when it comes to strangers. They tend to get very reserved and also very suspicious when it comes to strangers.
