The dogs of this breed are considered to be one of the oldest dogs to exist in the earth’s surface today. This dog has a rather complicated name; they get this name from the southern province of the country of Sweden. The country of Sweden id believed to be the place where this dog had originated and developed into what it is today. It is very often and very commonly believed that this dog had been existing in the country of Sweden since as early as the 1500s. However, even though it had been existing since such a long time, it was officially recognized as breed by the Swedish kennel club only in as late as the year of 1921.

This dog has a very noble look to it. It has a very sleek looking black coat. This sleek looking black coat gives these dos a very elegant appearance. The body of this dog can be considered to be a rather cubby one. However, even though it is quite cubby in nature, the body if this dog is very compact in nature. This dog may be born with an either a tail of long length or even with a tail of rather small length. However, in today’s breed, the dogs with tail of the small length are seen more often and more commonly than the dogs with the long tails.

These dogs are known for the remarkable hunting abilities. This dog hunts individually and not in a pack. This dog loves to work and is a very hard worker. They will gladly hunt all day without getting tired or taking a break. They will continue hunting until the human hunter tells it to quit hunting. These dogs are very versatile I nature when it comes to their hunting. This dog was used for the hunting of feathered animals and furred animals. However, they were more popularly known for the hunting of 2 animals, the fox and the hare. This dog is also known as the fax and the hare specialist because they were so efficient in hunting these animals. They are blessed with an exceptionally good sense of smell. They also have the ability to work extremely well provide whatever kind of terrain and also it is said that these dogs show no hesitation in hunting no matter what kind of extreme weather conditions.

This dog makes not commonly a very remarkable hunter but also an equally excellent companion dog. They are very adaptable in nature and can easily adapt to being a hunter and also to being a companion. They tend to get very energetic and also very tenacious when they are hunting. However, when in the presence of the family, they are very calm natured dogs and laid back in nature. They are said to be every obedient towards its master and its family members. Along with being highly obedient, this dog is also very affectionate in nature. They are rather independent dogs when it comes to following a scent or hunting, however, when at home, this independence can be manifested. This dog can however, at times get very stubborn in nature.
