SPRINGER SPANIEL

In the XVII century, this English breed and the cocker were classified as a single breed, which were told apart only by their size. In 1880, the American Spaniel Club selected the breeds for their size, and any specimen over 12.7 kg was classified as a springer. From 1902, the English Kennel Club acknowledged the springer spaniel as a different breed.

PHYSICAL TRAITS of the SPRINGER SPANIEL
It is a sporty and athletic dog, medium sized, with a solid body and arrogant stance. It is a beautiful animal that is perfectly balanced between beauty and usefulness. The average height in males is 51 cm, while the females are 48 cm at the most; the weigh is between 22 and 25 kg. It has a double coat, medium sized, water repellant and it protects it from hawthorns, and which can be straight as well as wavy, uniform white or liver red, white and black or any of these colors combined with gold.

TEMPERAMENT AND ADAPTATION of the SPRINGER SPANIEL
Its temperament is cheerful, lively and quite sentimental, it gets much attached to the master, but knows how to distribute its affection amongst the entire family, in such a way that if it changes owners it loses its natural joy and enters a phase of deep sadness. The training is not hard, but it has to begin since it is a puppy to prevent behavior vices which would complicate the process. It is not an appropriate dog for a city life, but is content with a small space, which could be a yard, as long as it feels it its own.

EXERCISE AND CARE required for a SPRINGER SPANIEL
The springer spaniel is one of those breeds that gets it tail amputated; the moment to do so is determined by the veterinarian. It is necessary to brush the fur deeply and regularly. Frequent exercise and a balanced diet will keep the dog in shape.

Although it is a domestic dog and a family lover, we should not forget that its senses are developed for hunting.
