TAWNY BASSET

This breed was originated in France, from the extinct Artois basset, which was taken to England in 1874 and there, from artificial crossings with the San Huberto blood hound, was selected as a hunting breed.

PHYSICAL TRAITS of the TAWNY BASSET
This is a dog with a long body, good musculature in the neck and chin, wide chest and rounded rib cage. The head is sturdy and prominent, a slightly accented stop, the eyes are diamond shaped, dark and with a deep gaze. The ears have a low insertion and a fine and flexible structure, they are long and drop forming ringlet type creases. It has straight, short and very dense fur, spotted in black, white and cream, or light yellow and white. Its body is short, robust and rustic, with a height to the cross of 33 to 35 cm defined for both sexes and a weight between 18 and 27 kg.

TEMPERAMENT AND ADAPTATION of the TAWNY BASSET
The tawny basset is fairly independent, good natured and decided compared to other dogs. It adapts to the family easily and it loves children. Although its gaze has a melancholic background, this is a cheerful and fun dog; it is also obstinate, especially when it is young, for which its education must be firm, but at the same time affectionate. It is, without a question, a delightful pet.

EXERCISE AND CARE required for a TAWNY BASSET
If the dog is living in a house with a yard, we must be careful of not leaving any gaps where it can escape through, since one of the things it likes to do most is wander, which leads it to get lost sometimes. We need to watch its diet to prevent a calcium deficit. It likes to get plenty of exercise, a convenient quality that avoids the tendency to add undesired overweight to its body.
