This is a primitive breed of dog. This breed of dog was said to have originated from the country of Malaysia. It is very rare to find however, it is the only known dog to have lived outside of its native land even though it is rare. Usually all the rare dogs are found only in their native lands, it is not so for this breed of dogs. This is a rather small sized dog. This small sized dog has the presence of a back that is rather elongated in nature. The coats of the dogs of this breed are very short in size. This short sized coat is also smooth in nature. The coat color is not very specific; in general it can appear in any shade of sable. It may have the presence of white markings here and there on its body. However not all that common, a black mask is found in some dogs and it is not unusual in nature at all.

A fully grown adult, when fed and taken care of properly will gain the height of about a minimum of 15 inches to a maximum of 28 inches at their shoulders and will weigh in at about a maximum weight of 28 pounds to a minimum weight of about 18 pounds. One very rare quality in this dog is that it has the presence of a blue colored tongue, other than this dog; this feature is seen in the chow chow breed of dogs. The dogs of this bred were primarily bred for the purpose of hunting vermin. These dogs over the years developed a very rare ability to be seen in dogs that is the ability to climb trees. In its native land, the native people used to breed this dog as a house pet. However, these dogs were considered to be bad luck and it was said that owning this dog would bring deaths to the master of the dog. This dog was considered as a treacherous dog.

These dogs are wild natured dogs that were supposed to have lived near the Telom River in their native land, the country of Malaysia. This river is from where the dogs get their name. They were used as working dogs by the Orang ali, for the purpose of catching fish and also for the purpose of hunting small sized animals. These dogs tend to get very ferocious and have the kill the animals that come as intruders into their house.

The dogs of this breed have the presence of a very long sized tail. This long tail of the dog usually stands curled upwards in direction. The dogs of this bred had the presence of a pair of ears that were medium in size. These ears were triangle shaped in nature. When this dog is being viewed from the front, it looks as if the triangle shaped medium sized ears of the dog point in the outward direction. These dogs are said to be very affectionate in nature and they are also filled with a lot of energy. As the dogs of this breed have a lot of energy, they love to play and to run around.
