Thai Bangkaew Dog

The Thai Bangkaew is a Spitz type of dog. It is medium in size and is an Asian breed of dog. These dogs have a square profile. Their build is compact. The gait in these dogs is smooth. The length og the body to the height of the legs is all in proportion to each other. They have a double coat. The under coat is short. The outer coat on these dogs consists of the guard hairs. The thicker coat surrounds the back, the chest, and the area around the neck. This gives it a lion like look. This is less noticeable on bitches.

The Thai Bangkaew Dog is native to Thailand. It is named after a village of the same name, Bangkaew. It is located in the Phitsanulok Province under the Bang Rakam District. In the village, there exists a monastery which goes by the name Wat Bangkaew. The dogs are said to have originated here. In recent years, these dogs have been one of the most favourite of the Thai people. They are selectively bred. These dogs need obedience training early on in their lives to stop them from being stubborn later on in their lives.

The Thai Bangkaew Dog is a very good swimmer. Most places of Thailand are prone to floods during their monsoon season, and almost all generations of the Thai Bangkaew Dogs were good swimmers. They are very agile and active. These dogs are watchful and alert. They are very protective of their masters and their properties and the families they live with. The Thai Bangkaew dog is devoted and obedient towards its master. They get ferocious towards strangers. This is a highly intelligent breed of dog. But like in most cases, higher the intelligence leads them to be a little stubborn.

If socialized well, these dogs get along well with all the different species of household pets and little children too. These dogs are adventurous and very active. They are always on the move. Watching them play is quite entertaining and amusing too. They are very gentle and sweet in the way they behave around little children. These dogs also happen to be very territorial. They make for great guard dogs and watch dogs. They have a loud bark, so any unwanted or uninvited visitors and strangers will be greeted with nothing but hostility from the dog.

The Thai Bangkaew Dog is rare in most parts of the world. Most of the people haven’t even heard of this dog. They are only native to the land of Thailand. This is the reason these dogs are hard to find. Many a people have tried pulling all their strings in order to obtain these dogs. But in many a cases their efforts have only ended up in failure. But the breeders, who do breed the Thai Bangkaew Dogs quote a high price for these puppies, add to it there is also a huge waiting list. These dogs don’t coexist well with other adult dogs.
