Tosa

The dogs of this breed also go by lot of other names like Tosa-Inu or even the Tosa-ken. This is also a very stately type of dog. Along with being very stately in nature, they are also quite massive in nature. The dogs also have the presence of a head that is very broad in nature. This broad shaped head of the dog tends to usually come to quite an abrupt stop. The dogs belonging to this breed have the presence of a muzzle that is quite moderately long in size. This long sized muzzle of the dog is also slightly squared off in nature. The muzzle of the dog ends with a nose. This nose of the dog is usually black in color. The noses of these dogs are also rather large in nature.

They have the presence of a very strong pair of upper jaw bones and lower jaw bones and on these powerful jaw bones they have the presence of a complete set of teeth. Their teeth setup is that of scissor type. It is very powerful and equally strong. The broad head of the dog is accompanied by a set of small sized eyes. The color on the eyes of these dogs will depend on the color of their coat, the darker the coat; they get a darker eye color. The lighter the coat gets, their color of eye also gets lighter. The ears on these dogs are placed high on their head. The ears are rather small when it comes to their size. This small sized and high places pair of ears is generally found hanging close to the cheeks of the broad shaped head of the dog.

They have the presence of a very powerful and a muscular neck. Their powerful and muscular neck is accompanied by a dewlap. These dogs have the presence of a tail that is very broad where it begins and starts to slightly taper as it moves towards the tip of the tail. The tail tapers to such an extent that it forms a point at the end. When the dogs are in a rather relaxed state, this pointed tail tends to reach till the hocks of the dog. The dog has feet that are very well padded in nature. The feet end to form nails that are very dark in nature and in color. They coat on these breed of dogs is a very short one. Along with being short, it is also dense and hard in nature.

The coat of the dog may come in various colors. It may be solid in color, it may be brindle in color or it may be multi colored in nature. If the coat is multi colors, then it may be a combination of colors such as red, fawn, yellow, apricot and so on. It may also be a combination of black, black with tan markings or black with brindle colored markings. A lot of times a black mask can be found in these breed of dogs.
