Toy Bulldog

Miniature Bulldog was another name given to the Toy Bulldog. These are an extinct breed now. The average weight on these dogs was around 8 lb. The French Bulldogs descended from the Toy Bulldogs around the 19th century. It was the British who drew these dogs away from their country because they considered them to be a threat to their very own native Bulldogs. The Toy Bulldogs are said to have originated by breeding the English bulldog and the relatively smaller Pug.

The Toy Bulldog was said to be a loyal breed of dog. They were very affectionate and intelligent and liked the company of their masters. All they needed to be happy was to be with the humans and to interact with the humans. These dogs got along well with both strangers and children, and hence they made for a bad guard dog. The Toy Bulldogs had a tendency to snore and their bark wasn’t considered to be really loud either.

These dogs stand tall at around 11 to 13 in for a fully grown adult. The dogs on a healthy diet weigh in at around 25-40 lbs. These dogs come in a variety of colors ranging from white to red to fawn or even brindle. These dogs on an average need daily walks to keep them happy and alert, but apart from that they are great apartment dwellers. The average life span on the Toy Bulldog is around 12-14 years. On one occasion, a Toy Bulldog ended up living for 17 years, which is still a record.
